Sure, they're getting sales on Steam now, but a lot of multiplayer games have that draw at initial release because they're brand new or novel. That all being said, I'm wondering if the amount they received from EGS exclusivity was enough to warrant not bringing it to Steam for a year. And there's no saying that was or wasn't in the developer's roadmap or pipeline anyways, prior to the exclusivity announcement. Sure, it's pro-developer if they can cancel out the development costs with the money EGS gives them, but that has nothing to do with the consumer unless we're talking continued support down the line for stuff like DLC (like you said). I'm not the person you were responding to but from my perspective, it's anti-consumer to incentivize a developer to put their product on only one platform exclusively. We hope everyone enjoys the Tenosian Invasion content today, and we can't wait to see you on the battlefield! Throughout the day we'll be hosting people playing the game on our Twitch and on our Steam store, so there will be plenty to gameplay to watch all day.Īs a quick reminder, you will not be able to transfer your game progress from EGS to Steam when you play today, but you will be able to do so in a future update. This morning at 10am ET, myself and two other developers (Steve and Leif, who were present in our Horse stream if you saw that one) will be kicking off the launch by streaming on Twitch and to the Steam store page where we will be answering your questions, chatting, and playing the game live with everyone. This update includes: horses, a brand new faction - Tenosia, four new maps (two Team Objective maps and two Team Deathmatch maps), added Achievements for PC Players on EGS and Steam, console server browser, combat balance improvements, and more! To see an entire list of changes in this update, please read the 2.5 patch notes over on our website. Simultaneously, the Tenosian Invasion update will also be released on all platforms (PC, Xbox, and PlayStation). If you're purchasing on Steam, be sure to join our Steam community to get access to these cool new helmets as well! These helmets are Steam community exclusives (and Chivalry 1 ownership on Steam exclusive as well) but will be coming to other platforms at a future date. Hello everyone, today is the big day! One year after its launch on the Epic Games Store, Chivalry 2 will be launching on Steam today at 7am PT, 9am CT, 10am ET, 3pm BST.

The greater your goals, the greater the challenge will be. Ultimately, your journey will be defined by the strength of your own ambition. Or, delve into the complex, bloody history of the Shattering and discover the lost secrets of the Demigods and their kin. Summon familiar spirits to even the odds against you or call on your fellow Tarnished to fight at your side and share the burden as you explore. Master arcane spells from the masters that still linger among the ruins of the war. Ride your steed into battle against mounted mercenaries and cut them from their horses. Learn the art of combat, where you must read your enemy’s intentions and a well-timed dodge or parry could be the difference between life and death. Use the environment, the weather, and the time of day to gain an advantage. Practice stealth to avoid danger or catch enemies unaware. Try dozens of skills and find one to best suit your style. Do you crave power, or do you seek understanding? Decide for yourself, then build your character as you see fit. The guidance of lost graces – should you find them - will put you on a road to re-take these lands from the Demigods through might and magic, but you need not follow their path. Above them all, ensconced in vast legacies bristling with traps, secrets, and guardians, the Demigods – warped Lords who began as members of a royal and noble family – rule their domains with the unyielding power granted by shards of the Elden Ring. They may have answers for you, if you help them. Those few inhabitants who are not mad or hostile linger near the broken remnants of cities left behind by the Shattering. Shy creatures nibble on sweet grasses or scuttle through the underbrush. In the grand fields where your journey begins, mythic creatures prowl the veldts, ineffable horrors lurk in the bogs and marshes, and all manner of soldiers and itinerant warriors are waiting for those who wander unawares. You will ride through the vast fields, gallop over rolling hills, and leap to the top of rocky crags on your ephemeral steed, revealing a world teeming with life and danger. As a Tarnished, the Lands Between await your exploration. They are the Tarnished, and they have returned to claim the Elden Lordship promised to them by legend. Once, their ancestors called the Lands Between home, but the blessed light of grace was lost to their tribe long ago and they were expelled from the kingdom. Throughout the Lands Between, Demigods holding shards of the Elden Ring squabble and make war over the ruins of a perfect realm, now abandoned by the golden guidance of the Greater Will.Īs the echoes of this conflict thunder in the distance, an outcast arrives. Generally speaking, the red is always to the flat side of the LED and the longest pin is your common. Or at least that’s what your eye will be tricked into seeing! This gives us a total number of 16,777,216 possible colors to play with.įor example, On a common cathode LED, if we set PWM to these values we will get the color Magenta on our LED. 0 would be off and 255 would be 100% brightness. The PWM of the Arduino is programmable from 0-255. With the Arduino and a technique called PWM, we can pulse each color of the LED separately to create many different colors. Because of the small size of each LED your eyes are tricked into seeing different colors that aren’t actually there! These LEDs can be mixed to show show different intensities of these three colors. However, LEDs and LCDs are only capable of displaying those colors individually. These cones are detectors for red, green, and blue color. The human eye has only three cones (most people). The LED shares a common ground, apply 3.3V to 5V to each Anode will light the different colors. An anode (+) for each color and shared cathode (-). Common Cathode (-) – This type of LED has four pins.Grounding each anode will light the different colors. The LED shares a common 3.3V to 5V input voltage. A cathode (-) for each color and a shared anode (+). Common Anode (+) – This type of LED has four pins. There are two type of RGB LEDs you will encounter and they are wired very differently Though those are rarer, they work the same way. There are 4-1 RGB LEDs that include a white LED. This allows the LED to mix colors at different intensities, allowing the presentation of many thousands of colors. A red, a green, and a blue LED all in the same housing with separate leads for each. Let’s first go over the basics of the RGB LED itself. RGB LEDs Explainedīefore we get into the Arduino RGB LED configuration, wiring, etc. Please note this tutorial is not about WS2812b or similar. an RGB LED is basically three LEDs in one that can produce many thousands of colors! If (potPinValue 42.5) & (potPinValue 85) & (potPinValue 127.5) & (potPinValue 170) & (potPinValue 212.Arduino RGB LED configuration! That’s what we’re covering in this tutorial! Most of the time you will be using LEDs that are a single color. Int potPinValue = map(analogRead(potPin), 0, 1024, 0, 255) Actually, it’s the mere adaptation of a nifty code posted by someone on the web (I could not find more details about the coder). Here’s the simplified hardware setup diagram: In order to do so, I’m simply using a regular 10K potentiometer and a common-cathode RGB LED. In the quick experiment below, I actually want an Arduino Uno to control the RGB colors through a potentiometer. Usually, this method keeps the same saturation and lightness and only changes its hue. It’s much easier to do using HSL and then converting to RGB to set the RGB LED color. To change the color of the RGB LED here, you need to consider changing its hue. Note that you can start with a simple crossfade idea by increasing one LED color value (from minimum to maximum) while decreasing another LED color value (from maximum to minimum).Īnother method for crossfading the RGB LED takes advantage of the HSL color space. Let me give you a few hints to help you start exploring and implementing two different RGB crossfade approaches.Īctually, there’re many fun ways you could crossfade an RGB LED depending on which colors you want to illuminate and how quickly. HSL (hue, saturation, lightness) and HSV (hue, saturation, value), also known as HSB (hue, saturation, brightness) are alternative representations of the RGB color model, designed in the 1970s by computer graphics researchers to more closely align with the way human vision perceives color-making attributes ( ). Use fresh summer savory for the same amount as you would basil, but consider that the fresh kind may be harder to obtain. Summer savory has a pungent and pepper flavor, so it works well in replacing basil in certain dishes. You may not know this herb, but despite its name, it is available year-round. Use double the amount of fresh tarragon that the recipe indicates, and the same goes for the dry kind, as it is milder in flavor. This herb is also great for making chicken, pork, or other white meats, and it can be used as a part of a bouquet garni for soups and sauces. Use tarragon when you prepare tomato soup, Caprese salad, and other tomato-based dishes. Unlike the rest of these herbs, tarragon is very subtle and has a mild anise flavor, which makes it great to substitute for basil. Tarragon is a leafy green herb famous for its presence in French cuisine. Use rosemary when you prepare pesto, bruschetta, pasta, potatoes, and meat.įor Tomato Soup, Salad, and Caprese Salad #4. If you want to substitute dry basil, use half the amount of dry rosemary as well.īecause rosemary is more pungent, you should always be cautious, but you can always add more as you want. When you replace fresh basil, use half the amount of fresh rosemary. This is another herb that brings in a bit of lemon flavor and a strong aroma. Lemon thyme is a bit more citrus and can also be used to replace basil. Take into account that thyme is less sweet and more floral, so it may alter the final flavor of your dish. Use about ⅓ of the amount that the recipe indicates when you use dry thyme, but you can use the same amount of fresh thyme. This herb has a more floral and woody flavor, so it differs from basil a bit, but can work in things like pesto, pasta, bruschetta, meat, and fish. Thyme is a timeless herb that takes a central part of many cuisines, including the Mediterranean, British, African, Latin American, and the Caribbean. Consider adding dry oregano at the beginning of the cooking process, but fresh oregano only at the end, to not overpower the dish. You can use oregano when you prepare pasta, bruschetta, sauces, and marinades. For replacing fresh basil, use half the amount of fresh oregano, and the same goes for the dry kind. Oregano is better when dry, but the fresh kind works too. This is a member of the mint family, and just like basil, it has a distinct peppery flavor with a strong aroma. Whenever you need to use another ingredient or want a new flavor, these substitutes for basil leaves and ground basil are perfect for you:įor Pesto, Bruschetta, and Pasta #1. Dry basil should be part of the cooking process from the start so the flavors develop adequately. If you have to substitute one for the other, keep in mind that one teaspoon of dry basil can replace one tablespoon of fresh basil leaves.Īdd fresh basil either chopped or whole, as it can be eaten cooked or raw. You should consider adding basil towards the end of the process, otherwise, it will dry out quickly or get too soggy.ĭry basil can also be used at any point in cooking, but the flavor is a bit different and has more mint notes and less anise. Dried Basilįresh basil is preferred when cooking, as it has more aroma and flavor. There are other varieties named after the aromas, including lemon basil, cinnamon basil, and spicy bush basil. Unlike sweet basil, the Thai variety has evident licorice notes. There are many varieties of basil, but sweet and Thai basil are the most well-known. It is green in color and has a strong sweet aroma but a peppery flavor. Aside from being traditionally used in Thai, Indonesian, and Vietnamese cuisines, it is also the main ingredient in pesto. This herb is native to the tropical regions of Central Africa to Southeast Asia. Most people living with anxiety can reduce or eliminate their symptoms after several months of psychotherapy. However, anxiety disorders are highly treatable. In addition, experts have linked severe anxiety to increased rates of suicide. In some people, anxiety harms their ability to form healthy social relationships and can affect their quality of life. Learn more about some types of therapy available.Īnxiety disorders, such as pathological anxiety, have very high morbidity, meaning it causes other medical problems, including: People then learn that their anxiety is a false alarm, and they do not need to fear the trigger. It aims to break the pattern of avoidance and fear and provide a safe environment to expose people to the objects, activities, or situations they fear and avoid. It allows people to change disturbing or destructive thought patterns that influence their behavior.ĭoctors may recommend exposure therapy to help people confront their fears instead of avoiding them. It is a talking therapy that helps people manage their anxiety issues by changing how they think and behave in response to triggers. Read our guide on medication disposal here.Ĭognitive behavioral therapy is one of the most effective forms of psychotherapy. It is essential to dispose of any unwanted medication safely. Inappropriately discarded drugs can harm people, animals, and the environment. These may include self-assessment questionnaires, interviews with therapists, and various clinical scales such as the Generalised Anxiety Disorder Assessment-7 and the Severity Measure for Panic Disorder.ĭoctors typically treat anxiety problems with medication, psychotherapy, or a combination of the two.ĭoctors may recommend the following medications for pathological anxiety: The doctor may also use specialized mental health tests to help them diagnose the individual. The doctor may then order laboratory tests such as:ĭepending on the results of these tests, a doctor may recommend further evaluations, including: They may begin with a complete physical exam and thorough medical history to help rule out any other medical disorders that could cause the individual symptoms. However, individuals need to understand that many people have difficulties with pathological anxiety without experiencing these symptoms.īecause pathological anxiety can manifest in various ways and other factors, such as illness, can cause it, a doctor may use various assessments to help them diagnose the condition. Symptoms of general pathological anxiety can include: Individuals may experience anxiety differently and react in various ways to the same trigger or event. GABA reduces nerve impulses and plays a role in processing anxiety. Research is also looking at gamma aminobutyric acid (GABA) receptors that help the chemical messenger GABA enter nerve cells. In an amygdala hijack, a person cannot respond rationally to a threat as the amygdala overpowers the frontal lobes, creating an exaggerated stress response. The amygdala is the emotional hub of the human brain and plays a part in fear and the “fight or flight” response that helps people react quickly in response to danger. Research indicates that developing anxiety disorders is approximately 30–50% heritable, meaning that family history can be a contributing cause in some cases.Īmygdala hijack may also contribute to pathological anxiety. However, it is important to emphasize that many individuals living with pathological anxiety may not meet the full disorder criteria for the condition.Įxperts do not know what causes pathological anxiety precisely, although genetics and trauma may play a role. While anxiety is a natural human response to certain social situations or unusual activities, maladaptive anxiety is not.Ī doctor may diagnose pathological anxiety if an individual experiences the following symptoms: Essentially, it is extreme anxiety that extends beyond a typical emotional response. Pathological, or maladaptive anxiety, means that an individual experiences intense anxiety or anxiety in situations that usually would not cause anxiety. This article looks at pathological anxiety, its causes, symptoms, and how an individual can treat and manage this mental health issue. However, pathological anxiety occurs when a person experiences intense anxiety, far beyond expected levels for the situation. Anxiety is a typical reaction to stress and new situations for most individuals. When feelings of anxiety become overwhelming and extreme, it can mean an individual is experiencing pathological anxiety.Īnxiety is a feeling of worry, unease, or nervousness that varies from mild to severe. He also thanked the Recording Academy, the Celemony team, the company’s many friends and, of course, all the users of the software Melodyne. In his acceptance speech, Peter Neubäcker alluded to his philosophical and mathematical background, explained his own, singular vision of music, and described the beginnings and the spirit of the company. After all, Celemony has blazed open a radically new avenue of access to musical editing that for ten years now has made it impossible to imagine music production without it. Host and Grammy manager James McKinney opened with the legendary question posed long ago by Melodyne inventor Peter Neubäcker: “What does a stone sound like?” A truly philosophical approach to the world of sound technology, far away from the purely technical thought-processes that typically prevail in the industry, and yet it is for precisely that reason Celemony was chosen to receive this year’s Technical Grammy. The first of the Special Merit Awards to be presented went to the Munich software house Celemony. And perhaps also the strangest,” commented Melodyne inventor Peter Neubäcker. I believe our company is the smallest ever to have received a Technical Grammy. “This is an honor none of us ever expected. The highest award in the music business is given in recognition of “contributions of outstanding technical significance to the recording field” and is equivalent to an Oscar in the film industry. On February 12, 2012, we have been honored by the Recording Academy as the first German software manufacturer with a Technical Grammy. The resilience of trans and genderqueer POC in the face of these issues was a prevailing feature of the event. TDOR itself has been criticized for its role in allowing white trans people to center themselves, thus erasing the lives and experiences of trans and genderqueer POC - who are disproportionately affected by the fatal hate crimes that TDOR intends to raise awareness about - from mainstream LGBTQIA+ narratives. One participant described the ways in which ballroom culture - founded by Black and Latinx trans and genderqueer people in the 80s - was co-opted by non-POCs who then popularized it in mainstream culture as their own (for example, Madonna and her “vouging”). The importance of intersectionality was also noted during the event. With so many seeking to erase transgender people - sometimes in the most brutal ways possible - it is vitally important that those we lose are remembered, and that we continue to fight for justice.” “Transgender Day of Remembrance seeks to highlight the losses we face due to anti-transgender bigotry and violence,” said TDOR founder and trans rights activist Gwendolyn Ann Smith on the GLAAD website, “I am no stranger to the need to fight for our rights, and the right to simply exist is first and foremost. 20 across the country - was started in 1999 by a small group of trans people in response to the 1998 murder of Rita Hester, a Black trans woman, in Allston, Massachusetts. Guest speaker Leo Austin-Spooner handed out a list of places to get involved with LGBTQIA+ organizations in the greater Boston area, including The Boston Alliance of LGBTQIA+ Youth’s Youth Leadership Committee, or BAGLY, before opening the discussion for participants to share their thoughts, feelings and anecdotes about grief and hope within the trans and genderqueer community.Īustin-Spooner, a first-year student at Boston University, is the co-chair of BAGLY’s Youth Leadership Committee, and was involved in the “ Yes on 3” campaign, a successful 2018 ballot initiatve to uphold a Massachusetts law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of gender identity in public places.
